About
Federico Pezzatini is a composer and arranger working across contemporary, electronic
music and media. His artistic practice explores the boundaries between sound, space and
visual media, with a particular focus on electroacoustic composition and audiovisual
interaction.

He graduated in guitar performance from the University of East London and later earned
a diploma in Music for Media with top honors from the Civica Scuola di Musica “Claudio
Abbado” in Milan. He is currently completing his Master's degree in Composition and
Music Theory with Nadir Vassena, Alberto Barberis and Giovanni Verrando at the
Conservatorio della Svizzera Italiana in Lugano, where his research integrates instrumental
writing, acousmatic composition and audiovisual composition.

Pezzatini’s work spans a wide spectrum of formats and contexts. He has composed
original music for theatre productions, including collaborations with the renowned Elfo
Puccini Theatre in Milan, and has developed sound design and music production for
audiovisual media. In 2022, he collaborated with Il Sole 24 Ore and Uffa on “Clay
Economy”, an innovative series merging economy, education and animation. He has also
received international recognition for his work, notably winning Best Sound and Best
Music for the short film La Soglia (2022), a work praised for its sophisticated integration of
acoustic textures and spatial soundscapes.His music has been performed by ensembles such as the Audrey Riley String Quartet in London, and featured at venues and institutions including the Civica Scuola di Musica “Claudio Abbado”, the Conservatorio della Svizzera Italiana, the LAC (Lugano Arte e Cultura), at the HSLU in Luzern and the SUPSI University in Mendrisio, as part of the Meet Music Code Festival and also at Accademia Musicale Chigiana.

He is currently member of the Chigiana Live Electronics Ensemble for the Summer Course
in Live Electronics in Siena (IT). He has been commissioned by 900 Presente for a
première in April 2026. He is co-founder and artistic director of the Ramificazioni Festival
(since 2025) and co-founder and co-artistic director of the newly formed Yokai Ensemble.
He attended masterclasses and studied with Mauro Lanza, Alvise Vidolin, Marco di Bari,
Francesca Verunelli, Louis Naón and Ivan Fedele.
