SOMNIA
Prologo agli Incubi
(2024)
For Flute, Bass Clarinet, French Horn, Violin, Contrabass and Electric Organ.
This piece is the prologue to the opera “SOMNIA” written and directed by Fabrizio Rosso.
The prologue was deeply inspired by the brain activity during the sleep phases, from the wake state until the deep sleep preceding the REM stage. Overall, the piece progressively changes throughout its course, from the WAKE STATE in which all elements are presented, to the DEEP SLEEP II where the brain has reprocessed all of them and is about to enter the world of dreams.
KEDAMONO (2023)
For Flute (and Piccolo), Clarinet in Bb, Bass Clarinet, Tenor Sax, Percussions, Drum Kit, Electric Guitar, Electric Bass, Soprano, 2 Cellos.
Domestic violence is the theme of this short movie: the victim's dream tells the story of her pain and the courage to defend herself.
My personal vision was to follow the theme of violence throughout the film: the first part declined into an epic battle, and the second part becomes much more intimate and real.
Therefore, I used odd time signatures and aggressive sounds to highlight the chaotic pace of the fight. Once the protagonist awakes, the music turns into a contemporary score: the small melodic phrase from the dream section, becoming her lament answered with dissonance.

Turning Point (2023)
For 2 Pianos
This piece was inspired by a life decision, a moment of rest necessary to observe our steps from a different perspective in order to understand the mistakes made so far. Only then the "turn" may happen, allowing our individual evolution.

The piece is dedicated and the inspired by the great scores from the Maestro Bernard Herrmann, implementing his characteristic harmony, while adding my own twist in the middle section.
